There are moments when no single drawing asks to be finished.

Instead, the table becomes a landscape of possibilities.

These works, all underway in late 2021 and early  2022 represent that stage of exploration where the hand is free to wander without the pressure of arriving anywhere. Each sheet begins independently, yet as they accumulate side by side they begin to speak to one another. Marks migrate from one page to the next. Rhythms repeat. Unexpected structures emerge. A line discovered in one drawing finds a new life in another.

Working on several pieces simultaneously allows me to remain in a state of curiosity. Rather than forcing a drawing toward a predetermined outcome, I can move between them, responding to whatever feels most alive in the moment. If one becomes too familiar, another invites fresh attention.

Many viewers search for recognizable forms—a face, a plant, an insect, a landscape. Those suggestions may appear, but they are never the destination. These drawings grow through observation of movement itself: branching pathways, cellular structures, tangled roots, weathered bark, flowing water, and the countless patterns nature creates without ever repeating itself.

Looking back at these unfinished works, I see not incomplete drawings, but a record of thinking in motion. They capture the conversations between eye, hand, and imagination before certainty arrives—if it ever does.

Sometimes the most important part of making art is allowing several questions to remain open at once. These drawings are those questions, still unfolding on paper.
